Having completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry from the University of California-Davis, Dr. Angela Maharaj moved to San Antonio to pursue her career in optometry at the University of Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. During her time at school, she rose to the top ranks of her class and graduated on the Dean’s list and in the top 10%. She now practices as a Therapeutic Optometrist and Certified Glaucoma Specialist.

During her clinical rotations in San Antonio and Fort Worth, Texas, she trained in fitting various types of contact lenses. She also recognized and managed diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, macular degeneration, and dry eye syndrome.

Dr. Maharaj enjoys caring for the eyes of the many generations of families here at Heritage Eye, and loves helping her patients improve their vision. She recommends having a comprehensive eye exam every other year for adults who are under 40 years old, and every year for those who are 40 years old and over.  She also recommends children have their eyes examined every two to five years starting at age 5.

Dr. Maharaj currently resides in Stockton with her husband and daughter. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, whale watching, and spending time with friends and family.
